SIZING
Please know that because most The Devil Made Me Do It items are made of fine knits, sizing is APPROXIMATE and flexible. Believe it or not, due to the nature of the designs and materials, most garments will fit 3 to 4 different sizes nicely (I do my very best to give measurements and sizes). Hats generally fit everyone (including kids). Please see notes on each item for specifics and exceptions. If, however, you buy something and it just doesn’t work for you size-wise, you may return it for exchange or refund (see below).

SHIPPING
Within the U.S. and Canada: I ship all items by insured US Priority Mail with delivery confirmation. For Expressmail, please email/convo me upon purchase and I can include additional shipping charges.

International: Items will be sent US First Class Mail. Shipping charges do not include insurance, so I strongly encourage you to purchase this. Also, if you would like faster delivery, please indicate this in your message to me and I can arrange for this for an additional charge. Also, be aware that overseas shipping may take up to several weeks (though this is not usually the case). Thanks for understanding.

Gift Wrapping can be purchased for an additional $5.

RETURNS & REFUNDS
I am happy to accept returns provided the garment is clean, unworn, and in sellable condition. If you are unsatisfied in any way with your purchase, please send it back within a week of receipt for prompt processing and I will refund for the purchase price of the garment (not including shipping costs).

SEWING, MATERIALS, DESIGN
All The Devil Made Me Do It garments are hand made by me (so you feel better about the whole sweatshop thing) from 99% fine recycled materials (so you feel better about your impact on the environment), and one-of-a-kind (so you won't see yourself coming and going on the streets). One thing I enjoy is serendipity. I don’t like things to be too “matchy-matchy,” and often prefer a “rougher” finish to spice things up a bit, especially to my appliqués (one thing I NEVER want is for my hand-made appliqués to look like they were embroidered by a machine!). This is part of my design style. So you may find certain “serendipities” in some garments (a flower or two on one side, but not on the other for instance). These “serendipities” are intentional and contribute to the uniqueness and artistry of each piece. As far as designs go, I definitely do variations on a theme, and so many items may have “sisters”; but since the materials I have to work with are limited and determined by what quality items I’m able to find second-hand , and because inspiration never hits me quite in the same way twice, no two items are ever exactly alike. One thing I LOVE about “Upcycling” materials is—again--that element of serendipity. You never know what you’re going to find. And, for me, finding something extraordinary and unexpected to work with usually leads to designing something extraordinary and unexpected to wear.

PRODUCT GUARANTEE
My appliqués are meant to be “rough-edged” (not look machine made) and to loosen and become more organic (and interesting) with wash and wear. While I pride myself in fine craftswomanship and careful sewing, each piece is an experiment. So, if you ever have a problem with THE SEWING on any of my appliqués, I will happily do a “touch up”, absolutely free (provided you have cared for your garment gently and properly).

GARMENT CARE
Because most The Devil Made Me Do It garments are made of wool, cashmere and/or angora, I recommend professional dry cleaning or careful hand-washing with a fine wool wash or gentle, natural shampoo. If you go the hand-wash route, NO DRYER PLEASE! (Or you might end up with teeny tiny The Devil Made Me Do It clothing ). Also, if hand-washing, please lay garment flat to dry to keep from s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g/mishaping.

CUSTOM ORDERS
I really try to limit the number of custom pieces I do because it is so much more difficult to do a custom piece than to just go with what is inspiring me. It takes a lot more time to find the materials (and in a size I can use) and put them together. In fact, a custom piece can end up taking me four or five times more time and energy than a non-custom piece. So for this reason, custom pieces cost more.

When custom ordering a piece from me, clients must understand:

1.I can never repeat a design (all my work is one of a kind)

2.The custom order could take several months, depending on availability of materials and my schedule.

3.I only do my own designs. While I’m happy to hear input from clients as to which styles and colors and appliqués they like, custom pieces come with an understanding that I’m an artist, not a seamstress. I will make what looks good, with your likes and dislikes and measurements in mind, but it will be of my own design, taking into consideration that inspiration may strike me and it might not come out exactly the way you—or I—expected.

4.I take a non-refundable down payment for half of the (estimated) price upon ordering. The remainder is paid upon completion of the piece.

5.Custom orders are not returnable. Though I do want clients to be happy and will work to make sure this is the case. If you are very fussy, I am probably not the designer for you.

6.If, after reading all of this, you are not put off and still want a custom piece from me, please contact me. Though it may take some time, if I do a custom piece for you, I promise to make it a work of art that you will love and wear for many seasons.

Please enjoy these clothes I make!
